Fluoroscopy in the Palm of Your Hand

Fluoroscopy in the Palm of Your Hand
Orthopedic surgeons can take intraoperative fluoroscopic photographs and video and view them in real time with Micro C, a handheld imaging system that exposes staff and patients to significantly less radiation than a traditional C-arm or mini C-arm without compromising image clarity or quality, says the company. The images are sent wirelessly to a separate laptop screen to be viewed in real time by the surgeon. Micro C, developed by Savannah, Ga.-based orthopod Greg Kolovich, MD, is awaiting FDA clearance for U.S. distribution.

Radiofrequency Treatment For Osteoarthritis Knee Pain
Patients suffering from chronic knee pain wait an average of 9 years until they undergo replacement surgery. Coolief, a radiofrequency thermal treatment, could provide the long-lasting pain relief that lets chronic knee pain patients delay surgery even longer. Coolief uses cooled radiofrequency energy to deactivate pain-causing sensory nerves and provides up to 24 months of pain relief and improved physical function, says the company.
