Wireless Electric Dressing Can Prevent Infection
Bandages using weak electric fields to disrupt bacterial biofilm infection can prevent infections, combat antibiotic resistance and enable healing in infected burn wounds, according to a study published in the Annals of Surgery. When moistened, a wireless electroceutical dressing (WED) using silver and zinc printed on fabric generates a weak electric field without batteries, wires or any external power supply, and it can be used like any other disposable dressing. The researchers will continue to test the technology.

A More Convenient Patient Bed Bath
CHG wipes are great applicators for CHG, but do they really clean your patients who need a bed bath? Where's the washing and rinsing? CHG wipes are not meant for general skin cleansing, and can leave the skin dirty and tacky. Mölnlycke's HIBI Universal Bathing System includes 10 large, gentle disposable cloths within a package that acts as a single-use bath basin, which eliminates the need for reusable basins — a recognized reservoir for pathogens that can cause healthcare-associated infections. The new solution pairs with Hibiclens to provide an antiseptic treatment that cleanses the skin and provides protection from infection.
