2018's Biggest Health Hazard? IT Security

Published: November 27, 2017

SINISTER The threat of cyber attack tops ECRI's health-tech hazard list of 2018, posing the greatest threat to patient safety and, of course, confidentiality.

In the release of its top 10 most hazardous issues in health technology for upcoming year 2018, the ECRI Institute tops it all with a stern warning over cybersecurity.

Cyberattacks not only put patients at risk, they denigrate the credibility of the organizations who've endured them. Without proper security measures in place, valuable records can be stolen, redistributed, compromised, ransomed or destroyed altogether.
