InstaPoll: Will Smoke Evacuation Ever Be the Law of the Land?

Published: March 13, 2018

Last year, both California and Rhode Island nearly passed laws requiring surgical plume evacuation. Do you think smoke evacuation will one day become mandatory in the United States? Tell us in this week's InstaPoll how many you read each month.

Three-fourths (75%) of the 544 respondents to last week's poll allow toasters and toaster ovens in the staff lounge. We had 3 at my last place — no flames but enough smoke to set off the alarms and bring the fire department," says an editorial board member who notes that unlike microwave ovens and toasters that automatically turn off, toaster ovens will stay on indefinitely.:
