InstaPoll: Mandatory Flu Shots for Staff?

Published: November 27, 2017

You probably heard about the hospital that fired 50 workers who refused to get flu shots. As more and more healthcare facilities require flu shots for workers, we want to know in this week's InstaPoll how many surgical facilities have made vaccination mandatory.

When filling a surgical nurse position, facility managers would much rather hire an experienced OR nurse, according to the 382 respondents to last week's InstaPoll. The results:

When filling a surgical nurse position, who would you rather hire?

  • a new nursing school graduate 11%
  • a nurse with perioperative experience 84%
  • a veteran nurse who's never worked in the OR 5%
