Time's Running Out to Report Medicare Quality Data
ASCs must submit info by Friday to avoid payment reductions.
Published: August 22, 2013
If you provide services to Medicare beneficiaries at your ASC, don't forget to report your use of safe surgery checklists and surgical volumes for selected procedures to CMS by this Friday, Aug. 23, in order to avoid reimbursement reductions in 2015.
The required data must be submitted on Medicare's QualityNet website. See the Ambulatory Surgical Center Quality Reporting Program Reference Checklist for more information, including a list of selected procedures for which volumes must be reported.
Approximately 2,800 facilities have already completed the reporting process, according to the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association, which notes that you must enter data for ASC Measure 6 (checklist use throughout 2012) and ASC Measure 7 (2012 surgical volumes). CMS has reported that some facilities are submitting data for only 1 measure.
For technical support when submitting data, call the QualityNet help desk at 866-288-8912 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. central time, Monday through Friday, or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
