Help Surgeons Who Help You

Surgeons who request a capital equipment upgrade should help you find the savings that can help pay for the purchase. For example, I told several of our orthopedic surgeons who wanted robotic platforms that we'd add the technology if they worked with me to decrease the cost of soft goods and implants. I've also worked with GYN surgeons to standardize the vaginal slings they use, in exchange for the video laparoscopic equipment upgrades they requested. I've found that surgeons are pleased to be involved in the purchasing process and receptive to the idea of leading the charge to reduce supply expenses. Engaging our surgeons to help make capital purchases has even kept some of our docs from leaving for facilities that have the technology they wanted.
