This sleep apnea toolkit from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care aims to help you detect and prevent airway complications in patients who present for surgery with the common breathing disorder.
The toolkit includes considerations for optimum pre-, intra- and post-operative patient care as well as guidelines for screening patients' risks for obstructive sleep apnea.
The toolkit was developed by the AAAHC's Institute for Quality Improvement. AAAHC-accredited ASCs will receive a laminated copy by mail. The accreditor is currently planning additional toolkits, including one on assessing deep vein thrombosis and another on preventing patient falls.
