Employers Go Shopping for Low, Fixed Rates for Surgery
Growing number of companies seek out hospitals offering good deals on surgery.

A story in the Los Angeles Times highlights a growing movement by employers to incentivize their workers to have their surgeries performed at hospitals that agree to reduced rates.
So fed up are companies with the variable and sometimes exorbitant prices for routine surgery that they're offering employees such incentives as spending money, bonuses, waived deductibles and well as free travel and lodging. One hospital agreed to a low, fixed rate for surgery.
