Quality Reporting for ASCs Starts Monday — Are You Ready?

Here's what you need to know to submit Medicare claims with quality measurement data.

Published:September 28, 2012

As of Oct. 1, freestanding surgical facilities must include codes signifying patient care quality on their Medicare claims or else face reimbursement penalties.

These G-codes have been devised to measure the incidence of hospital admissions or transfers; patient falls; patient burns; and wrong site, side, patient, procedure or implant surgery; as well as the timing of prophylactic antibiotic administration.

The ASC Association's quality reporting resources includes a toolkit of reference and educational materials.
