Save the Date: ASC Open House Day Slated for Aug. 11

Mark your calendars: Thursday, Aug. 11, is the date of the 2011 National ASC Open House Day, an opportunity for you to welcome local politicians and community members to come see what ambulatory surgery centers are all about.

"As ASC policies and practices continue to face intense scrutiny, more than those of many other healthcare provides, National ASC Open House Day 2011 provides the ideal opportunity for ASCs to demonstrate their value to policy makers and the public," says William Prentice, the new executive director of the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association.

According to ASCA, facilities have spent past Open House Days hosting community health fairs, facility tours, media briefings and engaging in other outreach efforts that have helped inspire people to become advocates for the industry. "At this time, when health reform, access to care and the quality of care patients receive are the focus of so much attention across the country, educating as many people as possible about the benefits ASCs provide is critical to the future of the industry," says ASCA Board Chair David Shapiro, MD.
