Pennsylvania state police arrested Joseph Edward Grostas, the business manager of the Surgery Center at Brinton Lake in Concord, Pa., for allegedly stealing more than $178,000 from his employer, according to the Delaware County Times.

On March 9, the surgery center’s administrator, Gina Espenschied, RN, BSN, CNOR, reported to the police that she had found $59,545.37 in unauthorized charges on the center’s credit card. Mr. Grostas allegedly used the card to pay his cellphone, cable and car insurance bills, take out an online personal ad and make purchases at several stores.

After more investigation, including a search of Mr. Grostas’ home, Ms. Espenschied and the police alleged that Mr. Grostas transferred $71,000 to his personal bank account and $21,706.78 to pay his mortgage. He also made more than $26,000 in cash withdrawals from the center’s account, they alleged.

At his arraignment, Mr. Grostas was charged with 270 counts of receiving stolen property and 206 counts of access device fraud, according to the newspaper.
