New Hospital Pampers Patients and Surgeons

The $110 million facility offers "lush" surgical suites and patient rooms.

Customized room service, free Wi-Fi and private rooms with their own balconies are just some of the state-of-the-art amenities offered at a brand new surgical facility in Loma Linda, Calf.

The 28-bed Loma Linda University Heart and Surgical Hospital (nicknamed "Lush" — get it?) offers patients and their families the "five-star treatment" along with a variety of inpatient and outpatient services, according to a CBS News report. Hospital Administrator Jesse Mock said at a grand opening ceremony last week that the facility’s goal "is to personalize, humanize and demystify the patient experience."

The $110 million facility is also designed to appeal to the physicians who’ll be performing robotic laparoscopic surgery as well as GYN, ENT and urology procedures there. "It’s lush for the surgeons because we’ve got such a great OR setting," says Subhas Gupta, MD, chief of surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center, who notes that the operating suites were "designed by surgeons for surgeons."
