ICD-10 Deadline Pushed Back to 2013

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has pushed back the compliance deadline to implement ICD-10 code sets from Oct. 1, 2011, in the proposed rule to Oct. 1, 2013, in the final rule. The greatly expanded ICD-10 code sets will replace the ICD-9-CM code sets now used to report health care diagnoses and procedures.
