Laparoscopic surgery has evolved substantially since George DeNoto III, MD, FACS, started using the technique 18 years ago. Vast improvements in optics and imaging, flexible scopes, hemostasis devices that fuse vessels up to 7mm in diameter, unique suturing techniques and new suturing devices have all advanced laparoscopy beyond the realm of straightforward surgery.
