Can ASCs Get Reimbursed for More Invasive Spine Cases?

Outpatient surgical facilities are hosting more and more complex spinal procedures, but not all carriers will cover more invasive spine procedures done outside of the hospital. Payors are slowly coming around due to better techniques, improved outcomes and reduced costs when compared to an inpatient setting, but reimbursement challenges remain for ASCs that do complex spine cases.
