Instrument Tray Blues

After working at a facility for years, it amazes me how the number of instruments in my tray varies so. Thank God, most days everything I have is there; the cases flow and all is well. Sadly, other days, many instruments are flat-out MIA. One of my favorite excuses is: "The instruments were there this morning." Well then, what happened? Did they vaporize? Did the hemostat fairy pay a visit? Was David Copperfield playing a joke on us?
