Playing Pranks in the OR
Re: "Say No Thanks to Pranking Colleagues in the OR" (July, page 6). I was shocked that 21% of those you surveyed think that pranking a colleague undergoing surgery is acceptable behavior. I was in the "no way" group. One reason: A nurse in a nearby town had an outpatient procedure at the hospital where she was employed. Two of her co-workers drew a picture on her buttocks and took a photo, which was circulated all over the facility. She pressed charges — defamation, assault, battery — and won a bundle. If you're a professional, act like it. This behavior makes me cringe.
