Aspiration: Endoscopic Ultrasound's Big Risk

We all know that endoscopic ultrasound is a relatively safe procedure for examining the digestive tract and its surrounding organs. But your surgical team should be aware that the combination of intravenous sedation and water instillation that's sometimes necessary to give the physician a clearer view of the duodenum can put EUS patients at a heightened risk for aspiration.
