Case Canceled? Don't Just Leave a Message

The telephone may be a convenient way to communicate with patients before and after surgery, but it's not foolproof. As you'll see in this case, in which a cataract patient sued after he went blind, it's important to document the details of telephone messages regarding pre-op instructions and make sure that the staff member dealing with patients on the phone is well-versed in complications related to the procedures performed in your facility.
