Go Beyond Time Outs With Pre-Op Briefings

Nurses and techs often hesitate to challenge surgeons, even if they notice problems that could lead to direct patient harm. The solution to this age-old problem plaguing ORs is communication. For us, the communication takes place immediately after the time out when the entire surgical team gathers for a quick briefing.
