Do You Offer to Buy Lunch Each Day for Your Surgeons?
The Surgery Center in Oxford, Ala., is about 20 minutes from the hospital and the main physicians' office building in town. "Getting physicians to come across town has always been a challenge," says Administrator Donna H. Smith, MT, CASC, citing both the drive and the fact that doing cases at the ASC often means missing lunch. Her solution: free boxed lunches that doctors can either eat at the facility or take with them on the road. Staff can also order a boxed lunch and have it payroll-deducted. A little more than half of the 119 facility managers we surveyed order lunch for their surgeons.
