15 Lessons I've Learned in 30 Years in the OR

Some lessons I've learned in 30 years as a surgical nurse about the way things work in every OR:

  • Staffers who play, hide out or work harder at looking busier than they really are live in every OR.
  • Very few people replace what they remove, borrow or steal from your room, and even fewer restock any area to which they're not assigned.
  • The person who yells the loudest is the one who's most insecure with what he or she's doing.
