The pressure to digitize your records is coming from all directions. Patient safety organizations say more standardized patient charts will reduce the chance of a missed allergy, wrong medication or any number of safety errors. HIPAA requires that you keep patient data on lockdown. Private insurers and Medicare want better documentation to cut errors in coding and billing.
