Obstructive sleep apnea can cause heavy snoring, fitful night sleeps and daytime fatigue. I've had a patient present for OSA treatment after falling asleep while driving … a motorcycle. Aside from risking bodily harm and extreme embarrassment, untreated sleep apnea leads to irritability and sluggishness during the day, fatigue, weight gain, loss of alertness and memory, high blood pressure, hypertension and increased risk of heart disease.
