Now more than ever, protecting the welfare of patients and staff in the OR is of paramount concern. The Joint Commission is emphasizing surgical time outs to eliminate wrong-site surgeries and the AORN recently released its position statement on the dangers of surgical smoke and bio-aerosols. When you consider that CMS will stop paying for medical errors on Oct. 1, the patient safety stakes have never been higher. It's your responsibility to stay abreast of the latest safety options. Evaluate the choices, weigh their efficacy against your patients' needs and evaluate the budgetary impact to help your staff meet national patient safety policies consistently and easily.
