If catheter-related infections and occlusions are problems at your facility, you might have to look no further than your IV connectors. Since we switched to needleless positive-pressure IV connectors, the number of failed vascular access sites decreased, alteplase drug usage dropped by more than 50% and catheter-related bloodstream infections have all but disappeared. Here's a look at what sparked our dramatic turnaround.
