How We Built Our Bariatric Unit

Bigger bathrooms, bigger beds, sturdier toilets and a dedicated OR are among the modifications this hospital made when it added bariatric surgery.

Every year, thousands of people undergo bariatric surgery, and although the procedure itself may go well, the surgical experience often falls short. Too often, patients are crammed into uncomfortable rooms, their mobility is hindered and their immediate post-operative recovery is delayed because the surgical facility isn't equipped to handle them.
