Second Opinions > Endoscope Reprocessors

Endoscope Reprocessors

We have 2 seperate Free Standing Endoscopy Centers and currently have an ASP AER in one and the ASP Evotech (less than 1 year old) in the other. We have had significant problems with the Evotech and are considering our options. Does anyone else currently use the Evotech and are you having problems? (frequent cancelled cycles, parts needing replacement, not user friendly, etc) We need feedback on what reprocessors other centers are using and if they would recommend its purchase. Any feedback would be helpful.

We have been happy with the Custom Ultrasonic Scope Washer/Disinfectors, having 12-15 of them across several of our facilities. User friendly and reasonable maintenance needs considering how much they're used.

I am in the repair business for Cataract and Phaco equipment. I would ask the independent firms who repair systems what units they like. I have worked on all types of Phaco Equipment and I would recommend the ALCON Legacy for ease of service. My opinion is based not on product loyalty but on how reliable they are. It would be true with any of the ENDO cleaners. Google third party repair firms and ask which unit they say are the most reliable. Hope that helps! They may take your ASP Evotech in trade or suggest what manufacture will give the best price and trade in your old unit.

Diane - I'm the Product Director for the Evotech ECR and am concerned about your comments above. Please contact me at this email address (tcanfiel at its.jnj.com) as I would like to find out more about your experiences. I can tell you we have many happy customers, and I would like to understand the challenges you are are having.

Are you aware that short of sterilization, there is a concern regarding the high level disinfectants that are used in reprocessors and the possibility that they may not kill C. Dif ? You need to check into this if you are reprocessing endoscopes.

We also have the ASP Evotech for approximately the same time period. And the problems you are having are identical to those we have had with our unit. It has been most disappointing. We have had to relay on the Medivators Reprocessing System which we purchased back when Olympus sold them. I have found this system to be most reliable.

Ditto on the Custom Ultrasonics, great product. Does a good job washing as well as HLD scopes. Our repair guys like them too, said they rarely have problems. The cost per cycle to run is much lower than many other products, such as the Steris 1 or 1e.
