Do you pay OR Housekeepers What They're Really Worth?
I would like to re-classify certain staff members who work in the OR to increase their pay. Their current title is housekeeper, but they do so much more and are responsible for more than housekeepers in other departments. What would be a reasonable job title and job description for such a person?

We have replaced most of our daytime housekeeping staff with OR asistant positions. They help not only with room cleaning, but turnover and set-up as well. Because of their job description and position, we are able to offer them a higher compensation than we were the housekeeping staff.

Our housekeeepers have the responsibility of turning over anesthesia as well as the rooms between cases. They are classified as Perioperative Assitants instead of housekeeping. This way they can be compensated for the duties above and beyond housekeeping within the OR.
