Nation's Largest Insurer Won't Pay for Anesthesia Providers in Routine Colonoscopies
WellPoint, the nation's largest healthcare insurer, will no longer pay for the costs of an anesthesiologist in conjunction with endoscopies, a move the American College of Gastroenterology says would block physicians from administering general anesthetics such as propofol to patients undergoing the procedures.
